What size/weight fish can a Daiwa BGMQ 8000 reel handle? With 40lb braid

@@tachote Great question! Well, I know with that big of a reel, it can hold a lot of line which is very good. And it’s probably got a really decent drag system too. With that type of reel spooled with 40 lbs braid you can handle some decent size fish with that such as Cobia, Amberjack, Mahi Mahi, Big Tarpon and Big Grouper. The only thing, because it’s 40lb braid, it may take a little longer to reel in those big fish especially if it’s a 50-60 lb fish. But if you’re going after those big monster fish, then I would bump it up to at least 60lb braid with an 80lb Fluorocarbon leader. That way you know for sure that you won’t have any problems at all reeling in those fish. Hope this helps👍
